Your Heart Loves Exercise

Why do you exercise so much?

Everyone has their own answers to this question. You may exercise to stay fit, to build muscles, or to look good and feel good.  Perhaps you like having more energy, strength, better balance, and greater flexibility.

Or maybe you do it all for a healthy heart.

As you may know, regular exercise strengthens your cardiovascular system through better circulation, more oxygen, and improved blood pressure. It helps you maintain a healthy weight, and reduces stress and cholesterol. You may even live longer because exercise has been shown to aid in preventing diabetes, cancer, and chronic diseases.

That’s why each time you shake up and drink down TruLabs PRE to start your workout, your heart says, “Gee, thanks, buddy!”

The benefits of betaine

Among its 16 essential vitamins and minerals, TruLabs PRE contains 500 mgs. of betaine, an amino acid that occurs naturally in your body. It’s also found in sugar beets.

We include it in PRE because researchers have found that betaine can improve muscle mass, endurance, and performance.

A study in the Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition, 2013, examined the effects of betaine on strength-trained men. Over six weeks, researchers measured their vertical jump, bench press and back squats, muscle size, and body density. They also tracked levels of homocysteine thiolactone (HCTL).

The study found that betaine supplements improved body composition, arm size, bench press work capacity and reduced the rise in urinary HCTL.

Another study from 2009 tested 15 days of betaine supplements on muscle endurance, power performance, and rate of fatigue in active college-aged men.

This time, the betaine improved muscle endurance in a lower body workout by increasing the number of repetitions and quality of squat exercises that the men could do. The subjects did not improve their ability to do more upper body exercises — vertical jump test or bench press throw.

For more energy and endurance

Each drink of PRE-Workout, PRE-Workout +, and PRE-Workout Caffeine Free contains betaine as one more way to up your energy, performance, and endurance during physical activity.

PRE-Workout gives you back the nutrients you lose during your workout. It has adenine, ribose, and phosphate, so your body can generate its own energy in the form of ATP.

Protection against heart disease

Scientists are trying to determine how betaine, along with vitamins B6, B12, and folic acid, helps reduce higher levels of homocysteine thiolactone (HCTL). This is important because high levels of HCTL can damage arteries or lead to blood clots, heart disease, and stroke. It isn’t yet clear if the HCTL itself is harmful or if high levels simply indicate an increased risk of heart disease.

If you are concerned about how supplements affect your heart, talk to your doctor before adding them to your diet or workout routine.
