What’s that on the box?
You may have noticed a new ingredient on the Hydrate label: fermented rice Reb M. Reb M, short for Rebaudioside M, is a steviol glycoside molecule that’s naturally found in rice and the stevia plant.
Fermented rice Reb M is produced through a sugarcane fermentation process. It helps Hydrate taste sweet without stevia.
This can be important for anyone who avoids stevia, sucralose, or any of the sugar alcohols, such as xylitol, sorbitol, and maltitol. These individuals may have health issues, or they may not like the taste that stevia gives to food and drinks.
By drinking Hydrate with Reb M from rice, they can eliminate those concerns. Plus, farming and harvesting rice Reb M is more sustainable than stevia-based products, requiring less crop rotation and water. It’s less expensive to produce, and more friendly to the environment.
Rice Reb M and monk fruit — a perfect pair
We combine rice Reb M with monk fruit extract, which comes from a natural fruit native to Southeast Asia.
To make a sweetener, manufacturers extract monk fruit juice and obtain mogroside (an antioxidant) from the juice. Monk fruit mogrosides have a taste that’s over 100 times sweeter than sugar, without adding any calories.
Hydrate’s five key electrolytes are sodium, chloride, potassium calcium, and magnesium, giving you 1,422 mg of electrolytes and 19 vitamins and minerals, including six B vitamins, at only 5 calories per serving.
